HALAL SUSTENANCE

Sustenance refers to diet, drink, food, grain, namely, everything that is used to keep living creatures alive.

Allah is the best provider of sustenance. Providing sustenance to marine creatures in the water and to terrestrial creatures from the earth
is clear proof and open evidence of the providence of Allah.

Allah Almighty provides sustenance to His creatures, especially humans, in different forms and types so that His servants do not quarrel on
earth to get sustenance, but rather live in peace and serenity.

The purpose of human life is different from that of other creatures. Many are given sustenance so that they may worship Allah Almighty, not so that he may dedicate their life to sustenance.

Certainly, the Absolute Provider is God, but finding a source and means to obtain lawful sustenance is a divine command and a natural requirement because the sustenance that is obtained through hard work and effort is a source of healing for appearance and character and a source of peace of mind.

The Prophet (Peace be upon Him and His Progeny) said:

“The earner is the friend of Allah.”

Therefore, a person must consider what is lawful and what is unlawful, permissible, and prohibited, in earning sustenance, so that livelihood becomes a source of salvation and not a cause of destruction and ruin.

The secret of Allah Almighty in the scarcity and abundance of sustenance to test His servants. The abundance of sustenance is not a reason for pleasure, and the scarcity for displeasure of Allah, but rather patience and gratitude, which strengthen faith.
