If the conscience is enlightened, then a person remains obedient to the truth, namely, adheres to the divine commands and the teachings of the Prophet (Peace be upon Him).

An enlightened conscience shakes a person at the time of sin and cruelty, but if the conscience is submissive and besieged, the being becomes subject to the unclean spirit and self-desires and is unable to prevent sin and cruelty.

A pure heart is the home of divine inspiration, whereas a dirty heart is the source of greed and selfish desires. Conscience’s enlightenment and subjugation depend on sustenance and training.
